What if I told you that you don't need to go far to truly disconnect? I spent a three-day weekend with my mother and brother at the Sorval Farm, A Muslim-friendly place in the Hauts-de-France region, just two hours from Paris. A real breath of fresh air, a welcome change of scenery, and incredibly good for the soul. The site is rated 5 stars and ranked number 1 among accommodations of its kind in Walincourt-Selvigny. Needless to say, we weren't the only ones who fell in love with it: we adored it, a true weekend of disconnection.
How to get there
We went by car, the only really practical way to reach the farm. It's about a 2-hour drive from Paris. The place is in the middle of the countryside, so there's no easy access by public transport.
Best time to visit Sorval Farm
Spring or summer is generally recommended. With good weather, you can fully enjoy the patios and outdoor spaces: walks, animals, fruit picking. It's also the best time to pick local fruits and vegetables.
The welcome at Ferme de Sorval, a Muslim-friendly address
We were welcomed by Katia, who runs the farm, and she's incredibly kind. You can tell she's passionate about what she does: she told us about her animals, the plants she grows all over the property, the jams she makes herself… She also gave us lots of recommendations for the weekend: things to do in the area, walks, and restaurants to try. This sentiment is echoed in most of the reviews.

The cottage Aux Bois Dorés at the Sorval Farm
We stayed in the cottage Aux Bois Dorés, designed for four people, this apartment features a large kitchen with a central island. The living room has a fireplace (wood-burning stove for cozy evenings) and a rocking chair. The sleeping area comprises two elegant bedrooms (one with a 160x200cm bed and the other with two 100x200cm beds, all with high-quality bedding) and a bathroom with a walk-in shower. Two terraces open directly onto the surrounding nature, furnished with plenty of chairs for enjoying the outdoors. Amenities include air conditioning, a TV, and even an Ofyr outdoor grill for cooking outside. It truly has everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Indicative budget : expect to pay around €65 to €185 per night, depending on the cottage and the season.

Nature and animals at Sorval Farm
Here, you're surrounded by nature, but also by animals. There are cows (Blonde d'Aquitaine breed), sheep, ponies, horses, chickens, and geese. They're so cute; it was wonderful having them as neighbors. You can even feed and pet them! For children, there are also mini-tractors to play with in the green spaces, enough to keep them busy for quite a while. We also took a walk in the farm's small woods, and we even saw a little fawn wandering around! It was incredibly fast: we barely had time to see it before it was gone.

Strawberry picking near Sorval Farm
Next to the farm, you can find a field where you can pick fruits and vegetables. We chose to pick strawberries: really nice, and they were delicious! We recommend the experience.

Relaxation: sauna, gym and massages at Ferme de Sorval
For those who really want to unwind, there's a shared gym. You can also get a massage there. We left feeling refreshed and rested.

Where to eat at Sorval Farm
There's no restaurant on site, which is actually convenient for a Muslim-friendly stay at Ferme de Sorval: you cook your own meals. However, you will find local produce available for purchase. The cottage's outdoor grill makes cooking easy. If you prefer to eat out, there are around forty restaurants within 5 km, some of which are highly rated.
